It's been awhile...

Hello again!! It's been awhile since I've written in my blog. Things have been busy and I got distracted with other things, but lets be real that is not an excuse. This is what happens to a lot of us who are trying to lose weight; we do really good and then something distracts us and we take some steps in the wrong direction.  Don't let that stop you!!! You can get off track for awhile but jump right back in when things straighten out!

I started working out again and eating even better. I set a goal and I have stuck to it. My husband left for a school and I thought what a perfect opportunity to get myself back on track; so I did. My goal was to lose 5lbs while he was away. He will be home Friday and I have lost 4!!! What a victory for me. I also recently had a non-scale victory. I tried on a pair of shorts I wore last summer and I am so close to fitting in them again!! They actually fit up my thighs and all. So excited!  So now you know even if you do get off track you can get back on and start with a bang. I sure did and I am so happy about it.

Let's talk about the scale. You know that nasty, mean machine you keep hidden away because the numbers on it scare you? That one! The most important thing to remember when it comes to the scale is that it is just a number. You can work out and not see that number move but that does not mean that you aren't improving.  Instead of relying on the scale take pictures!! Pictures are the best way to see the change. See my picture below. That is my difference from May 11, 2015 to August 3, 2015 and I'm not stopping yet.

Take this picture and let it show you that the best way to show progress is through pictures.  A lot of the time we beat ourselves up because we feel like nothing is changing, especially when that number on the scale doesn't move.  A picture is worth a thousand words.  A picture gives you the visualization that you need to see that you have made changes.  It gives you the confidence that what you are doing is working.  At least it did for me!!

Until next time, wish me luck!!

BBM 4.0

I am on to week 3 of Bikini Body Mommy 4.0 and I am loving it.  If you are just starting to workout or looking for something that can easily be done at home then this is it.  All you need is a yoga mat, some dumbbells and YouTube.  Its as easy as that.  I can't tell you how great it feels to do these workouts.  I can't wait to start seeing some change!!  Weeks one and two really got me back in to the swing of things.  Now to get my food under control (as well as my husbands...lol).  This is my goal for this week.

So I've been doing my workouts but my food hasn't been that great.  That is about to change.  I know that I will start seeing some awesome results if I really straighten out my diet.  Don't get me wrong I have changed it a lot.  I now drink more water and I have been cooking a lot more, so way way less fast food.  But it is time to let it go completely and just learn to like cooking.

Exciting news!!  My wonderfully amazing, handsome husband got me a treadmill for mothers day!!  I love it.

It is a manual, it is small and it is perfect for me!!!  That man is the best.  I have added treadmill time to my workouts but I am about to change my schedule up...keeping my fingers crossed that I can stick to this.

If you know me, you know that I am NOT a morning person.  Well that's about to change.  My goal for this week is to start a new routine.  Wake up at 6/6:30 am, spend half an hour on the treadmill, shower and get breakfast started.  This way I am awake, energized and ready for the day.  I will continue my everyday BBM 4.0 workouts in the evening time.

New Week, New Goal!!  Wish me luck!!

Don't Give Up!

So, those of you who have been following my blog, you may have noticed that I did not give an update last week.  Here is why...  I didn't feel like I had anything good to report or say, and I was feeling really bad about that.  Making this change is not easy, but I am determined.

Along with changing my eating habits I started the Bikini Body Mommy workouts again because they had worked for me before.  I have to be honest with you, I stopped again because the workouts were boring me because I had already done them.  Great News!!  There is now a Bikini Body Mommy 4.0 out now, it started on May 4th, so I started up again.  Let me tell you, I love it!!  It seems more challenging for me and I am so so sore.  It hurts to walk and move but it feels amazing to be doing something that makes me feel good again.  Below is Day 1 (May 4th) for me!!

Today was Day 4 for BBM, and let me tell you, I had every excuse I could come up with not to work out today but I got off my ass (excuse my language) put on my workout clothes and I got it done.  And I am so happy that I did, I feel great not giving in and skipping today.  Here is my post work out picture:

Dripping in sweat and happy that I got todays work out done.  Only 86 more days to go for the challenge!!  Oh, and my eating habits have been great, I've been cooking so much more and eating way better, so that's a plus.

This is all for now, I will see you next  week!!  Wish me luck!

Keep on chuggin...

Here I am again week one of my second month.  It doesn't feel like I have made any progress but I won't...I CAN'T give up!  Let me tell you this is hard, and a lot of the time I think "what's the point?".  But then I remember, I am doing this for me, I want to be healthy and fit for myself and my family.  I have a point to prove...to myself.

So this week has been pretty good.  I finally have gone a week without any fast food and that in itself is an accomplishment.  I don't eat fast food because I like it and that's all I want.   In all honesty I eat it because it easy, convenient and I hate cooking.  But this week thanks to an awesome friend, I have rediscovered my crockpot!!  This has literally saved my family from fast food, because the only time we eat fast food is at dinner time and it is often because neither my husband or myself want to cook.  But I made a commitment to stop with the fast food and I will stick to that.  It is not good for me or my family.  Breakfast and lunch are easy, dinner is where I struggle.  But this week has been great!!   So thank you Danielle for helping me rediscover my crockpot!!!

The scale has stayed the same this week but I did have a NO SALE VICTORY (NSA).  I was able to fit into a summer dress that I bought last summer!!  I was s excited because I haven't been able to fit into it for awhile and now I can.  YAY!  It's not a big change but it is a change non the less.  For anyone else on a weight-loss journey, this is where you realize that you can do it.  You cannot count on the scale, you need to focus on the fitting of your clothes and how you feel.

My family has made another change to our routine this week.  Every evening after dinner we take a walk.  I love this because it is family time and a great way to end the evening with my family.

So I don't have pictures today, but I am now off to do my workout.

Wish me luck, see you next week!!

Month One Down...

2 days late to write this but for good reason, I had my anniversary to celebrate!!

Let me start by saying the first month is ALWAYS the hardest, but you have to keep pushing yourself.  "You know your weaknesses, only you can control this situation", that's what I keep telling myself. I didn't do great this first month but I didn't do horrible either.  There were a lot of things in the house that were tempting to eat and I did fail and sneak a few bites..lol.  Hey, I'm only human.

So one thing that I have learned (I already knew really) is eating healthy is not fun.  I already hate cooking but knowing that I am about to make something that doesn't excite me makes it that much worse.  This has been the hardest part, but I am slowly learning what options work for me and which ones I will leave out of this lifestyle change.  Here is a glance at one of my lunches that I really liked!!

Cucumber sandwiches (I had already eaten one), banana slices with PB2 and almonds!!  I also enjoyed turkey burgers, strawberry/banana wraps, and baked chicken is always good.

Among choosing healthier options, as you know I am doing BBM 2.0.  This past week that was put on hold because I had a nasty fall in which I twisted my ankle and scraped up my knee pretty bad, but I am ready to get back to it with this new week/month!

So overall it wasn't a horrible month but I still have a long way to go.  That's ok, this takes time.  During my first month I have lost 4 pounds, not the best but it's a start, right?  This next month I hope to drop in to the 150's!!  Can't wait to see how it goes!!

See you in a week, wish me luck!!

All In Time

So this week wasn't my best, but everything takes time and patience, right?  This is what I keep telling myself.  As long as I keep my goal in mind and I stay determined then I can do this!  Everyone makes mistakes and when you start something you are bound to mess up and have bumps along the way, keep that in mind.  No matter what, you can always bounce back.

Here's the rough part, I gained 2 lbs. this week.  No, that isn't a lot but it also isn't what I wanted (I blame Easter).  But there is a bright side, I'm still down from my beginning weight and I have that to be proud of!!  JUST STAY POSTIVE!!

Here's a look at how I will be eating, and what I have made some changes to eating lately:  Chicken and asparagus for lunch (there was more I took a pic after I had been eating), and cottage cheese with pineapple for a snack.  These are only two of the things I've been doing differently.  I also stopped soda all together, and I am now on water all day long.  I also like to drink water with cucumber and lemon which is really really good!!

I also started working out this week.  I am doing Bikini Body Mommy 2.0.  If you are a beginner and want something to help you with starting to workout this is a great option.  All of the videos are on youtube and they take 20-30 minutes max.  It is a 90 day workout plan.

This week I learned that this is easier said than done.  I gained some weight back but I am not letting that get me down.  I will push forward and I will do better this week.  Can't wait to see my results after a week of really buckling down.  I am determined, I know my weaknesses and I know I can do this.

See you next week, wish me luck!!

A little at a time...

Small Changes, that was my goal for the first week.  Start by making small changes and grow from there.  Let me tell you, I think I did pretty decent.  I wasn't the best by no means with making these changes but if baby steps is what it takes baby steps is what I will make.

This first week was not easy, but starting is always the hardest part and it takes 21 days to start/break a habit.  Cutting soda and fast food out of my diet was one of my goals and though I did cheat just a little bit I managed to cut it out a great deal.  For my second week my goal is not to have any at all!!!  After all I am working towards being healthier and we all know neither or those are healthy

One big change was grocery shopping but I was quite please with what we put in our cart.  We stayed along the perimeter of the store which I've been told is the best way to shop.  Only healthy food options went in to our cart and the best part, my kids love all the healthy stuff!  Here is an example of what we are eating in case any one is wondering:

Breakfast: 2-3 eggs any style and oatmeal
Snack: greek yogurt and a medium banana
Lunch: 4 oz. baked chicken with asaparagus
Snack: 10 baby carrots and light ranch
Dinner: Turkey burger with avacodo
Sounds good doesn't it...

And of course lots and lots of water!!!  I took a suggestion from a friend and made some cucumber lemon water and I love it.  Makes drinking my water that much easier.

Another thing I have done is begin working out.  Yesterday I started the Bikini Body Mommy workouts again and I am ready to see some change as the 90 day workout progresses.  If you don't know what this is, check it out on youtube.

Drum Roll.......  In 1 week I have lost 4 lbs!!!  WOW!  No, it is not a lot but for 1 week I think that is pretty darn amazing and I can't wait to see that number keep going down.  I went from 169 to 165 and here is my pic to show my weigh in results.

Whether or not my blog is being read is not to important to me but its a great tool for me to hold myself accountable and I cannot say how happy I am that I decided to start this journey and share it through my blog.  No gimmicks, no fad diet just me being real and making the changes that I need to make to be healthier for myself and my family.  I can't wait to see where I am at next week since I have added the workout!!

See you in a week!!  Wish my luck.
